Facts about secondhand smoke
Cigarette smoke is harmful around a person who is smoking a cigarette because of secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke is the smoke from a smoker's cigarette that others breathe in. As many as 300,000 infants up to 18 months of age are affected by second hand smoke with bronchitis pneumonia. Secondhand smoke increases a child's chance for middle ear problems, causes coughing and wheezing asthma conditions. If a pregnant woman smokes they will deliver babies whose weight are too low for the babies' good health.
