The 5 biomes in British Columbia

This is a good link on Canada's Biomes http://www.mb.ec.gc.ca/nature/ecosystems/da00s04.en.html

1 Rainforest Just one jurisdiction in Canada -- British Columbia -- holds fully a quarter of the world's remaining tracts of temperate rainforest. It is a mist-shrouded land of rugged fjords, storm-battered islands and magnificent valleys lined with cathedral forests of cedar, hemlock, spruces and firs. These coastal forests are the traditional territories of First Nations peoples who have lived for millennia amongst the towering trees and rich salmon runs.http://www.rainforestweb.org/Rainforest_Regions/North_and_Central_America/Canada/

2 Coniferous Forest A forest containing ‘coniferous’ plants is a coniferous forest. These are places where winters are very cold, summers do not last very long, and there is not much rainfall. Some areas in the northern parts of North America, Europe, and Asia, and in the world's mountain regions have coniferous forests.www.recycle4schools.org.uk/ecodict_c.htm

3 Grassland biomes are large, rolling terrains of grasses, flowers and herbs.

4 A mountain is a landform that extends above the surrounding terrain in a limited area. A mountain is generally much higher and steeper than a hill, but there is considerable overlap, and usage often depends on local custom. Some authorities define a mountain as a peak with a topographic prominence over an arbitrary value: for example, the Encyclopædia Britannica requires a prominence of 2,000 feet (610 m). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountains

5Desert The humming birds ‘hum’ and the rattlesnakes ‘rattle’ in the bright morning sun of Canada’s only desert. Simmering at the northern tip of the Sonora desert system which starts way down in Mexico, this dry, arid finger extends up through North America to the resort and vineyard country of the Southern Okanagan Valley where the long hot summers and dry mild winters maintain an eco system unique in Canadahttp://www.canada.co.nz/media/story_65.htm

6Tundra The Arctic ecozones, which have the lowest precipitation in Canada, encompass the Arctic islands as well as the northern portion of the continent from the Yukon to Labrador. This is the land of intense cold, where average annual temperatures range between –17oC and –7oC, depending on the region. In February 1979, meteorologists at Eureka Station on Ellesmere Island calculated an average monthly temperature of –47.9oC, which still stands as a record for Canada. In such conditions, it is not surprising to find permafrost, ground that remains frozen all year long, sometimes to a depth of several hundred metres.http://142.206.72.67/01/01a/01a_004a_e.htm
